The Crazy Ones

“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used to create them.” – Albert Einstein

“And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.” – Excerpt from the 1997 “Think Different” Apple TV advertisement

Einstein and Apple got it.

They knew when to toss it all, keep it simple, and go to the back door.
They knew how to challenge the status quo by thinking differently.

To chase your dream, learn what these crazy ones knew.

How To Chase Your Dream

Start with your employees. Get rid of Thomas. He’s about to give you one more reason why change won’t work. Tap Sue on the shoulder. She isn’t “into change”. Escort John to the door. His “I don’t care” attitude kills enthusiasm.

Then toss all the stuff that doesn’t matter. Furniture? Yep. Morning coffee? Right on! Endless meetings? You got it. Toss everything. Toss it all!

What’s left? You. Actually your mind.

Toss the thought that mediocrity is okay.
Toss the thought that the status quo is acceptable.
Toss the thought that excuses are excusable.
Toss every thought except one: why you get up every morning.

Toss it all to chase your dream!

Keep It Simple

I use the KISS method to help you Keep It Simple, Stupid.

Here is an example: A marketing professional, who understands the power of being simple, describes himself this way:

  • I Elevate Everything
  • Branding.
  • Marketing.
  • Design.

Go To The Back Door

John was a young man, about 21-years-old, living in Chicago. He always wanted to be a chef. So, well-meaning people told him he should follow the traditional way to become a chef: attend one of the culinary schools.

But, he did not have the money for such a school. Thus, after considerable thought, he decided the best way to learn to be a chef was to actually work for a good chef, to get on-the-job training. And he knew the chef he wanted to learn from: Chef Paul.
